The turning point in which the cycle begins again. Like new years but for those attuned to nature. Things might seem quiet but germination is occurring beneath the surface. This is a threshold point where we leave behind the old ways, and begin to slowly but surely move resolutely into a new phase.

Southern hemisphere ~ exact 7 November 2025

The turning point in which we plant the seeds of what we most wish to grow in our life garden. And weed out what is in the way. This is a time of joy and creativity that serves your highest good/the greater good. Crossing threshold’s, celebrating life, purification via fire and honouring our Eros are key themes.

Samhain is the darkening of the light, Beltane is the lightening of the dark. Both represent new beginnings and saying goodbye to the old, just in very different ways. Samhain is quieter and more internally focussed. Beltane is exuberant and more externally focussed.

This is a seasonal and cyclic shift. Nature responds to this (the plants, insects & animals know) as do we, because we are also nature.

What needs to die, what needs to be sacrificed in honour of receiving a different kind of harvest?

What is truly life affirming within your life? What do you need to create or make room for in order have more of this?

These points of the year where we have the increase of either light or darkness are a full on opportunity to remove what needs to be removed and make some welcoming space for what needs to come through.

We live in a period in which the demands on our energy and attention are at an all-time high. Meanwhile, what we need most is space to just be and breathe, connect with ourselves and know where we are, be aligned with natures rhythm, see where we’re heading and be able to discern what is right for us ~ and what no longer serves the greater good. So we can re-route as needed.

We don’t need to become some kind of monk and renounce all things because that is way too extreme (and in my opinion often just another form of life denial anyway). But, I strongly believe that most of us really do need to quieten the noise from without so we can be in communion with what sits within. I see this come up as a theme with herbal medicine and numerology clients consistently. We are so lost, but we can be found again ~ guess where? Right here in the now. The starting point of all we have and all we can be.

Consumerism has got to such an extreme level we even consume each other in various ways. It makes us miserable, so rebel by asking yourself ~ can you make do with less? When we sacrifice the superfluous and refuse to believe capitalism‘s great lie of more is better we welcome in the beautiful, the meaningful, the truly rewarding experiences and relationships. We make room for actual life to flood in and surprise us.

What needs to burn? Put it on the fire.

What are you carrying right now? Is it financial stress, difficulty within your community or family, disappointment, heartbreak, world events getting you down, sub optimal health ~ etc?

What parts of that can be let go of in order for the burden to feel that little bit lighter? Can exposure to things that stress your system be reduced? What can you do from this point forward to take care of yourself so that your foundation is able to cope? So that you can flourish as much as possible ~ which then enables you to lift others up along the way.

What can you do for yourself and connect with externally so that you build a resilience that isn’t trying to be brittly unbreakable, but is flexible to the point where we can acknowledge not everything is as we wish it was, but not be completely knocked down or taken out of ourselves from it. And have the patience to wait for those turnarounds to happen while we gently work on them (and ourselves) without forcing or rushing.

The path of alchemy is not just some mystical abstract practice but a principle we can apply to everyday life.

We can take base matter and turn it into gold. This requires a little bravery to look behind the curtain and a willingness to see whats there & not flinch away from it. Only then do you act. And transform.

This moment in time offers us a chance to gaze into the unknown in the sense that there are aspects to every tension causing situation in our lives that, until we look at what is underneath them, we are doomed to repeat until we get it.

Sure, you can be the kind of magician in your own life that says I want this thing I want that thing and then you go in, and create the circumstances in which that can happen. Or you can be the kind of magician who says I want to become this, I want to become that. One is child’s play (which can be fun and relevant when done ethically). The other though, now that is proper adult level creativity because you yourself become the instrument.

There is a big difference. When you seek to become that which you desire that which you desire seeks to become you. For some of us this means doing less and for some of us it’s about doing more. The likelihood is that in each of our lives there are areas where we could be doing less/having less and areas where we could be acting in the opposite direction and giving more/creating more.

Give yourself the opportunity today and for the next week to collaborate with this turning point. You might only have five minutes, you might only have a single moment to sit with yourself and say to yourself actually I’m done choosing this way ~ I’m going to choose that way instead. These seemingly tiny shifts are just as powerful as the ones you spend a whole day on.

SCORPIO ASSOCIATIONS

Scorpio season has begun and it’s the absolute favourite time of the year for me because Scorpio ~ which relates to Mars & Pluto ~ is my rising sign. I also have multiple astrological & numerology placements in Mars. Being a giant lover of all things Scorpio I naturally had to write a whole thing about what it means.

Note: I am not an astrologer, I’m just more into the mythology and mystical associations of the different cycles of the year/life.

Mars = drive, life force, passion, courage and yes, sex

Pluto ~ transformation, death, the underworld, mystery, the esoteric

Scorpio relates to:

Sex ~ creation, life force, growth, waxing energy

Death ~ destruction, decay, loss, waning energy

Aka the infinite repeating cycle of life, nature, the universe. Ouroboros personified.

Alchemy as a philosophy and life practice ~ No love you can’t actually turn a lump of base metal into gold, it’s a METAPHOR, a CONCEPT. Though I do find it interesting that the price of gold is off the charts right now.

Secret worlds ~ the occult, the esoteric and discovering or revealing what has been unknown or hidden, as well as actual secrets.

Scorpio is catalyst, breaking open the shell to reveal the entire contents, looking behind the mask, revelation, eros, death, rebirth, magic and meaning.

This sign/time off the year represents the kind of growth that you don’t necessarily see so obviously on the outside, but it is absolutely huge and changes you from within ~ which then will begin to show up in actuality. It’s subtle yet incredibly deeply felt and far reaching. Scorpio means business and does not like to fuck around. Vow now to be nobody’s bitch but your own between 23 Oct and 21 Nov.

Aside from the fact that Scorpio is a water sign, The concept of the cleansing fire is a massive theme. That is because we have the Mars ruler (fire element) and the Pluto ruler (water element). There is a astrological debate around which celestial body is the true ruler of Scorpio, but in my opinion it makes sense that there are both. Of course this sign is never just one thing but a blending of opposites, just to keep us all guessing. And also because alchemy.

Fire and water are opposing forces yes, but in the right hands at the right time the two can merge and create new forms. In alchemy this union, this harmony of opposites melding to create a third option is the goal.

The concept of the Phoenix is a pretty accurate explanation. Death and rebirth. The cycle of life that plays out constantly within and externally. A rising from the ashes. A new way of being. This is essential for evolution on all levels.

SCORPIO AS SEX

This is about intimacy, the merge, the psyche and healing through depth as opposed to porno style genitalia level empty shit. Our bodies can’t stand the taste of junk food even if we keep reaching for it mechanically (if there are addictive or compulsive tendencies/issues happening for you around lovers/sex this is the time to work on that and seek help ~ with professional guidance yea, not via a subreddit).

Scorpio is erotic and sensual as opposed to straight up hypersexual, so it’s more of a situation where the idea of undressing someone is way sexier a thought than if they presented already naked. Where what emerges from the darkness of within has a far more potent pull on our psyche, hearts and bodies than the tendency we’ve all been trended into of sharing and showing everything. When all is seen there’s nothing to be discovered. Massive turn off for Scorpio. Immediacy is no match for the sublime tension of the slow burn.

It’s oceanic, a tidal current, the mystery, the submerging.

There is a common misconception about Scorpio due to the association with sexuality. The real turn on here is devoted sex, sex as a sacred act, the body given and taken with reverence, the mind and heart fully engaged and present, secrets and desires between people (or the self) unfolding. And again we experience the blending of opposites. Moving outside of the binary to exist in a third space is a beautiful use of this energy.

Scorpio is not flippant about sex.

Self control when it comes to this world is a worthy and very scorpionic endeavour. Particularly called for when we exist in a timeline where every sexual whim is absolutely catered to and you can so easily fall down a rabbit hole of endless empty gratification with no end to the hunger and seemingly no limit to how far you can push it. Taming and channeling your desires into something worthy (beloveds, art, life ambitions and passions etc) is a way to make it magic.

We are being called to look at and engage with what is actually held within our true sexual self and core creative drives. The erotic self comes alive. Eros is not simply connecting your body parts with someone else, it’s about full engagement with life, our will to live, to experience all kinds of pleasures ~ and the desire to put all of that life somewhere.

Eros demands authenticity of us. If we shy away from truth at this time we will either sting ourselves or be stung.

Body wisdom is a big one here too. Scorpio is aligned with Mars which is a very physical energy as well as Pluto which is very metaphysical. We can bring through massive healing for ourselves via transformation of our relationship to our body ~ and our relationship to the divine (even if you’re not “spiritual” this still applies to you because you are a part of the greater universe and the greater universe is a part of you). Intuition is a big theme with this. Listen to your nervous system and gut knowings.

SCORPIO AS DEATH

Everyone is afraid of death yet we are constantly dying on a physical and spiritual level. We rid ourselves of dead cells just as we create new ones. We learn so that we can do things in a new and hopefully better way. We cannot stay stuck. If we stay stuck we atrophy and we all know deep down that atrophy of the spirit is worse than any physical death. The phoenix knows that fire is required in order for it’s true form to emerge. Challenges come and we either move through and make something beautiful out of them or become heavier.

Scorpio season is what I consider the most Jungian time of the year. The dark night of the soul is calling and we must die to ourselves in some way shape or form so that we can call in renewal and truth. It is a moment to dig deep and look behind the curtain of ourselves as well as the other people & situations that make up the design of our lives.

What stories, what tired situations and for some of us, what people/scenarios relating to people are we clinging to that have formed such a huge part of our identity, yet now have calcified and withered us to the point where we are beyond stuck? What and who do we use to suffocate, anaesthetise, distract and validate ourselves with?

There is an inner demand within us all to transcend what holds us back, keeps us small, isolated, cowering, frustrated, our hearts closed to life. Our deepest yearning calls to us no matter what and even if we block it out that call is still attempting it’s way through. The truth is that we can absolutely choose to not answer the call, but that phone will never stop ringing and the pain of it will become louder and louder.

And one day you will die with either that call answered or still ringing.

This is a time to embrace doing what needs to be done in order for our essence to come forward and be of real value in this world. When we shut down our real self or shut ourselves off from lifes full spectrum we cut our power out and become husks. Husks who cause all kinds of damage everywhere we go with our envy and our grief and our anger.

The answer to this of course is not to go completely wild with all of it and just become chaotic and selfish but to integrate the self back in to our lives in ways that enrich and fulfil us. To become self full.

Scorpio cuts us to the core and removes inner & outer obstacles so that we can know what we are made of. The unconscious/subconscious and unknowns will come forth into our awareness while Scorpio is hanging around unearthing all the hidden stuff. This will be playing out on the world stage and also within the microcosm of our own lives. Watch and see what comes through during this time. Again, the death of lies and the revelations around them is the beginning of healing.

Once something is known, what can creatively be done about it? This is where the active Mars principal then comes into play. Change doesn’t just happen. First awareness comes, then understanding, then we act. If we skip the understanding bit we go straight to reaction and continue the cycle.

Don’t be afraid ~ embrace the fire and let it burn away anything that’s false to leave you gorgeously naked and ready for the next phase in the turning of the wheel.

I lost my angel baby

My sweet boy died in my arms

In arms

Nose to nose

Eye to eye

The best thing in my life let go gently and sighed his last breath

It left me riddled with grief, it left me empty, it left me elated.

Last Sunday I lost my sweetest friend, my dog Bailey, at 14 years of age (not enough years). He died held fast in my arms, looking into my eyes, and when he softened in my hold I felt him pass his love and soul into my heart and soul and I’ve honestly never felt more empty and full at the same time ever. Nor am I likely to again.

I started this thing as a bit of a side project, preparing the ground internet wise to write about my favourite secret theme ever ~ the alchemy of the death process as it plays out in our lives and how this inevitable bend in the air creates the indent in which new life can spring forth. Why yes, I am a Scorpio rising (IYKYK).

Little did I know five minutes later I would leave my husband, a love of 15 years and burn that marriage to the ground, move twice in 6 weeks, die to myself over and over, lose the actual real love of my life yet somehow keep finding all sorts of love anew throughout all of this ~ inside and everywhere outside. All of these beautiful gifts buoying me while the life I had built fell away. All so unexpected. All so brilliantly perfect.

A premonition perhaps? almost definitely, I am full of those.

So strap in friends, I can’t promise consistency schedule wise but I can promise to be unfiltered and as real as I can be through words. Somehow as a professionalish writer I feel the desperate need to just riff, so here it is.
